Lesley Bray > Found another Bustard ! I have never seen these birds before and get excited every time we find one in the bush.

The Australian Bustard, Ardeotis australis, is a large ground bird of grassland, woodland and open agricultural country across northern Australia and southern New Guinea. It is also commonly referred to in Central Australia as the Bush Turkey, particularly by Aboriginal people.

Lesley Bray > Today's view from a jump-up outside Winton, Qld.
What's a jump-up you may ask !! A jump-up is the local name for the type of mesa plateau that occurs in the
Winton area.
Millions of years ago, dinosaurs roamed the flat plains you can see in this photo. How do I know that? We spent the afternoon at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs where they prepare the fossils found on this plain for the museum. They have found an abundance of fossils which will take them many years to process.
